Acupuncture releases chronic pelvic pain (CPP) regardless causes- research update.

Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is characterized by pain occurring in the pelvic region for more than six months, and can be either cyclic or non-cyclic. It can be associated with various factors, including lower urinary tract, reproductive system, bowel, and muscular. CPP is more common in females than males, with a prevalence rate that may be twice as high. In fact, non-cyclic CPP in females has an annual prevalence rate that is as frequent as that of migraine, back pain, and asthma. Acupuncture is a widely practiced treatment modality for various diseases, particularly in pain management. In a previous large-scale study involving 17,922 patients, acupuncture intervention was found to be more effective in reducing pain compared to sham and no acupuncture intervention for back and neck pain, osteoarthritis, and chronic headache. A more recent updated analysis involving 20,827 patients has also demonstrated the effectiveness of acupuncture for non-specific musculoskeletal pain, osteoarthriti...

Having pain and not tried acupuncture yet? Here is what you need to know about acupuncture. Acupuncture is becoming mainstay treatment of pain release.

Pain is an inevitable part of life that can have a significant impact on one's quality of life. The experience of pain involves the transformation of pain stimulus into a nerve signal that is sent to the brain. The pain sensation and pain response are produced by integrating and processing this information in the brain. Several neurotransmitters, such as opioid peptides, γ-aminobutyric acid, norepinephrine, 5-hydroxytryptamine, and glutamate, are involved in pain modulation. While painkillers can be effective in managing pain, they also have potential side effects such as addiction, drowsiness, and damage to brain function. Consequently, many people are turning to alternative therapies such as acupuncture, which is known for its few side effects. Acupuncture has gained popularity as a method of pain management around the world. Originally from China, acupuncture has been shown to have positive analgesic effects in many studies. Numerous clinical trials have demonstrated that the ne...

Acupuncture is effective for prostatitis.

Prostatitis is a condition that affects many men, causing chronic pain and discomfort in the pelvic region. Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that has been used for centuries to treat a variety of conditions, including chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). Recent research suggests that acupuncture may be an effective treatment for this condition. A review of twelve trials studying the effect of acupuncture on chronic prostatitis found that acupuncture had a significant effect in reducing pain associated with the condition. The study also found that acupuncture was safe, with no serious adverse effects reported. Acupuncture may work to alleviate the symptoms of CP/CPPS through a variety of mechanisms. One possible way is by regulating immunity. Acupuncture has been found to decrease the level of pro-inflammatory factors, increase the level of anti-inflammatory factors, and regulate the level of inflammatory regulatory factors in the body. Acupuncture is effective for Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS).

Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is a common condition that affects men. Patients with CP/CPPS often experience varying degrees of pelvic pain or discomfort, as well as lower urinary tract symptoms. The condition may be linked to low blood flow in the common iliac vein and pelvic congestion. Additionally, recurrent urinary tract infections can severely impact patients' quality of life. The prostate gland is the primary male accessory gland for male fertility, and there is a correlation between male infertility and prostatitis. Recent studies have shown that acupuncture is an effective method of treating CP/CPPS. One study analyzed data from ten high-quality randomized controlled trials involving 798 patients with CP/CPPS. The results showed that acupuncture had superior effects compared to sham acupuncture and western medicine on CP/CPPS patients' pain score, NIH-CPSI score, quality of life score, urinary symptom, and efficacy rate. The researchers con...

What is pelvic bone?

The hip bone or pelvic bone is a large flat bone connected with sacrum and coccyx of the lower spine. Two hip bones join each other at front midline and join together with sacrum and coccyx at the low back forming pelvis surrounding the pelvic cavity which accommodates bladder, reproductive system and bowels. The hip bone is formed by three parts: illium, ischium and pubis. The ilium is the highest and largest part of the hipbone consists of the body and wing. The ischium is the lowest part of the hip bone and made up of three parts–the body, the superior ramus and the inferior ramus. The pubis is at the anterior of the hip bone. It is divided into the body, superior ramus and inferior ramus. The hip bone has a few groups of muscles attached as follows The abdominal muscles include the abdominal external oblique muscle (attaches to the iliac crest) , the abdominal internal oblique muscle (ataches to the pectin pubis) and the transverses abdominis muscle (ataches to the pubic crest and ...

What is acupuncture? Pain relief with acupuncture.

Acupuncture began in China about 2500 years ago and it is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is based on theory of meridians (channels). Chinese Medicine believes that energy (called qi) flows around human body freely through meridians without being interrupted. If the channel is blocked resulting that qi cannot pass through the channel, this may cause illness. The acupuncture needles are inserted into certain points of your body along with the channels to unblock the channels. The effectiveness of acupuncture to treat disorders is still a long standing question in research field. There are many conflicting research results on treatments of different kinds of conditions. Sometimes it is difficult to draw firm conclusions, because of the way that the research was conducted. Researchers are trying hard to perform well designed research using control group and sham acupuncture. For some conditions, the effectiveness with acupuncture treatment is agreed, such as back pain by the...

Men also get pelvic pain, do you know acupuncture can help?

Prostatitis is a condition in which the prostate gland is inflamed. It can be acute or chronic and it also can be infective and non-infective. Chronic nonbacterial prostatitis is most common. It happens to about 20% men. About 90% men with chronic prostatitis have chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CPPS). Chronic bacterial prostatitis is much less compared with chronic prostatitis/CPPS. The main symptom is pelvic and perineal pain lasting longer than 3 month. Pain can be in the perineum, testicles, tip of penis, pubic or bladder area and may spread out to the back and rectum. Post ejaculatory pain may be present. The cause of CP/CPPs is not clear, but it may be related to hormonal changes, autonomic nervous system imbalance , abnormal local or systemic inflammation, altered immune function and genetic factors. Stress could be a contributing factor for CP/CPPS. The treatments can be challenging with limited success. How to treat this condition remains challenging. Acupu...
