Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is most common accounting for about 90% of all cases and is the most difficult type of prostatitis to live with. It comes and goes unpredictably and the pain can be very severe. It may also involve inflammation and difficulties with urination. Although not life-threatening, it does affect quality of life greatly. Recent research analysed data before August 2017 to investigate the effect of acupuncture for CP/CPPS. The studies involved with 3290 men with CP/CPPS and showed that acupuncture significantly reduced the pain and other symptoms compared to the control. Also there is no side effect from acupuncture treatment.
